First Answer
Repeat framing …

Your pass at your first turn wouldn’t have been everyone’s choice, but it resulted in the opponents declaring at the three level in your best suit. What’s your lead? We expect that the opponents are in a 4-4 fit with a 5-0 break. We recommend leading trumps (Ace then low is OK, and low trump is also OK). One way of seeing that a trump lead probably is best is to reflect on what you do when you are declaring in a 4-4 fit with a 5-0 break; in that situation; you almost always stop playing trumps once you discover the bad break. So if it’s right for declarer to avoid playing trumps, it must be right for the defenders to do the opposite and lead trumps at every opportunity. Here is another way of thinking about the situation: dummy probably has four diamonds and only one or two spades, declarer is likely to want to ruff spades in the dummy, and with you being short in spades, that plan probably will work well for declarer; the countermeasure for you is to play trumps.
