Quiz 126

The Full Deal

At the table, South rebid two hearts (forcing, in this partnership). North bid three clubs (indicating at least six clubs). South asked for keycards, and North showed zero or three (clearly, three). South could count six club tricks, two spades, two hearts, and two diamonds = twelve, with multiple chances for a thirteenth trick (any Queen, or a seventh club).

South also noted that three Aces were only twelve HCP and that North stood to have significant additional high card strength, so South bid seven notrump. There were thirteen fast certain winners; plus 1520 scored 92%. Only 25 of 146 NS pairs bid seven notrump. Another 21 bid seven clubs for 83%. Plus 1020 (six notrump with an overtrick) scored 60%.
