You are 4th seat, none vulnerable.

What does partner’s two diamond bid promise? The usual guideline for a ‘reverse’ is 17+ or 18+ HCP, but players sometimes make this call with fewer points in high cards with extraordinary playing strength. Bonus from Val: Beginners sometimes reverse when they are 5-5 in their suits, but better players have learned to always bid their longest suit first, with any strong hand. So here, partner’s clubs should be longer than partner’s diamonds.
What’s your plan? You have a very nice 18 HCP. If you give partner 17+, there are enough HCP for a small slam and possibly enough for a grand slam. We recommend a relatively simple plan: use your bidding system to find out whether you can count thirteen tricks, and if not, settle for six notrump..
