Quiz 120

Second Answer

You (3rd seat, both vulnerable) are declaring four hearts. The opponents passed throughout.

Four of spades (Ace), club to the Ace, club ruffed low, diamond to the Queen, club ruffed low. Now what? One possibility is to play all-out: Ace-King of diamonds (discarding your spade loser), ruff a spade low (hoping the lead was not a singleton), ruff your last club with dummy’s Queen, and hope you can ruff a spade or diamond low, for thirteen tricks. But there are lots of ways that could go wrong. So we think it’s better to play the Queen of trumps.

Queen of hearts (two of diamonds, six, deuce). Yikes, a 5-0 trump split!
